Those who with God’s help have welcomed Christ’s call and freely responded to
it are urged on by love of Christ to proclaim the Good News everywhere in the
world. This treasure, received from the apostles, has been faithfully guarded
by their successors. All Christ’s faithful are called to hand it on from
generation to generation, by professing the faith, by living it in fraternal sharing,
and by celebrating it in liturgy and prayer.6

Whoever confesses his sins . .
. is already working with God. God indicts your sins; if you also indict them,
you are joined with God. Man and sinner are, so to speak, two realities: when
you hear “man” – this is what God has made; when you hear
“sinner” – this is what man himself has made. Destroy what you have
made, so that God may save what he has made …. When you begin to abhor what
you have made, it is then that your good works are beginning, since you are
accusing yourself of your evil works. the beginning of good works is the
confession of evil works. You do the truth and come to the light.61

1598 The Church confers the
sacrament of Holy Orders only on baptized men (viri), whose suitability for the
exercise of the ministry has been duly recognized. Church authority alone has
the responsibility and right to call someone to receive the sacrament of Holy
Orders.
