Monday, April 4 : Thalassios the Libyan
Christ is the Savior of both soul and body, and the person who follows in his footsteps is freed from evil. (…) With what hopefulness do we go to meet Christ, we who, up till now, are subjected to the pleasures of the flesh? (…) Our Lord and God is Jesus Christ and the intellect that follows him will not remain in darkness (cf. Jn 12:46) (…) Holy knowledge is the light of the soul; bereft of it, the fool walks in darkness (Eccl.2:14). (…) He seeks out the reasons of God, he who venerates them. The one who is seized by the truth finds them. In his compassion, the Lord upholds all those who fall, and he raises up all those who have been thrown down. (cf. Ps 144(145),14 LXX). (…) Whoever listens to Christ is enlightened. And whoever imitates him is raised up. (…) The person who listens to Christ fills himself with light, and if he imitates Christ he reclaims himself. (…) The Christ, our Lord and God, is Jesus, who has given us our faith in him, who leads us into life. Jesus is the Christ, our Lord and God, who grants us faith in him that we may live.
