Thursday, May 23 : Psalms 49(48),14-15ab.15cd-16.17-18.19-20.
This is the destiny of those who trust in folly, the end of those so pleased with their wealth.
Like sheep they are herded into Sheol, where death will be their shepherd. Like sheep they are herded into Sheol, where death will be their shepherd. Straight to the grave they descend, where their form will waste away, Sheol will be their palace.
Straight to the grave they descend,
where their form will waste away, Sheol will be their palace.
But God will redeem my life, will take me from the power of Sheol.
Fear not when a man grows rich, when the wealth of his house becomes great,
For when he dies, he shall take none of it; his wealth shall not follow him down.
Though in his lifetime he counted himself blessed, “They will praise you for doing well for yourself,”
He shall join the circle of his forebears who shall never more see light.
