Tuesday, December 17 : Book of hours of Sinai
You, the voice of the Word, welcome now our voices, oh Baptist, and deliver your people from passions, dangers, unending afflictions and eternal punishment. You always point the way, to the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world: beg Him to erase my serious sins, my many failures, and make me worthy of life. O my soul, shout out without delay, dissipating the darkness of the passions: “Have mercy on me, Jesus, by the intercession of the Baptist, and withdraw me from the quagmire of my actions!” Mother of God, the one before whom the celestial troops trembled and who out of sheer goodness has united with mortals, it is you, all pure, who brought Him forth into the world: therefore beg Him, to take pity your servants. (…) You have seen the Holy Spirit descend in the form of a dove on the Word, at the baptism, and you were deemed worthy, Oh Blessed Baptist, to hear the voice of the Father: “He is my son who shares my Throne “-He to whom the whole creation sings:” Celebrate the Lord, all his works, and exalt him for the centuries!” Mother of God, keep my intelligence in humility, a young girl filled with the grace of God who by your birth has crushed the revolt of of demons, raise me from the false passions and fill those hungry for your grace, that they may sing, “Celebrate the Lord, all of His works, and exalt Him for all generations;”
