Tuesday, January 28 : Venerable Madeleine Delbrêl

When someone we love ask us for something, we thank them for asking us. If it were your pleasure, Lord, to ask us for just one thing in our entire life, we would be amazed, and to have done your will just this one time would be the event of our destiny. But, because every day, every hour, every minute, you place such an honor in our hands, we find it so natural that we are unfazed by it, indifferent. And yet, if we understood how unthinkable your mystery is, we would be amazed to be able to know that are our tiny duties are sparks of your will. We would be dazzled to know that in this immense darkness that covers us, the innumerable, precise, and personal lights of your wills. The day we would understand this, we would go through life as a kind of prophet, as seers of your providence, as agents of your interventions. Nothing would be mediocre, because everything would be wanted by you. Nothing would be heavy, because everything would be wanted by you. Nothing would be boring, because everything would be love of you. We are all predestined to ecstasy, all called to come out of our poor imaginations, to emerge, hour after hour, in your plan. No one is abandoned or left behind but of the blessed, called. Called to know what pleases you. Called to know what you expect of us in each moment. We are necessary to you, were we to refuse one of these actions you would miss our involvement.
