Wednesday, October 30 : Saint Theodore the Studite
By reviewing day after day the time of present life, save your lives (cf. LC 21,19) by the virtues, receive the inheritance on the kingdom of heaven and collect the inconceivable goods that God’s promises reserve for us. Narrow and circumscribed is the way of God (cf. Mt 7,14) but wide and spacious (cf. Mt 7,13) The place of rest which it offers you: the demon’s temptations follow one another and somehow invaded your spiritual home, but the dew of the Spirit turns off these fires and holds open for you the water welling up in eternal life (cf. Jn 4,14). (…) Come on, my children, now let us valiantly support this very small number of days, or, to better, these days which are given to us to fight, and hold on to the crown of justice (cf. 2 TM 4,8 ). (…) I conjure you, oppose your present afflictions with a light heart (cf. 2 CO 4.17): they are nothing, and like a dream or a shadow, they quickly pass! May nothing make you tremble or bend, but with renewed ardor, let us put into practice the commandments of the Lord. Do not be saddened by an insult, drawn away by an injury, mislead by a reproach, beat down by irritation, tortured by a disdainful attitude! Lower your eyes in humility and raise your soul, be good to each other, indulgent, persevering, patient. (…) However, you have learned all of this you who are taught by God. Do what he likes (cf. Jn 8,29); And finally bravely support the days present, my children!
