Friday, February 21 : Isaac the Syrian

The way of God is a daily cross. No one has ever risen to heaven comfortably; We know where this road leads. God never leaves without worry he who devotes himself to him with all his heart; He gives him to worry for the truth. This is also what we know, that God watches over such a man: he leads him through afflictions. Providence never permits to fall into the hands of demons those who spend their lives in trials. And especially if they kiss the feet of their brothers, if they cover their faults (1p 4,8) and hide them as if they were their own faults. Whoever wants to be without concern in the world, the one who has this desire and who at the same time seeks to walk on the path of virtue, has left the way. Because the righteous not only fight with all their will to accomplish good works, but they fight in spite of themselves in temptations; So their patience is tested.
