Friday, June 14 : Saint Nerses Chnorhali
Me, twice struck By the deadly arrows of evil, I cry like the infirm: “Impose the remedy for the deep wound of my soul. »» Take away from the eyes of my mind the dust of the vices, That of the interior and that of the outside, So that I can clearly see heaven The face of the archetype. And instead of hearing the common word In the receptacle of my ear, Impress rather on it the word of holy Scriptures, The testament where God speaks. Place a sentry on the lips of my mouth, So that I do not speak to the detriment of the soul, But that I always speak according to your will, For the construction and profit of the listener. Grants grace to my active hands To accomplish lasting good; Not to apply them to pleasures, To tangible, or harmful things. And if these senses were to slip and be scandalized, Make me imitate, according to your commandment, The one who preferred to sacrifice himself, so as not to suffer the full punishment. Guide my soul to the sky, And secure her to the unshakable rock, So that she is not for my being An opportunity to fall into fire.
