Friday, March 13 : Saint Anthony of Padua
“Whatever you ask of the Father in my name” (Jn 16:23). The Father is God; we are his children and we say to him every day: “Our Father, who is in heaven…” We, the children, must therefore ask the Father for something and this something is love. Indeed, everything that exists is nothing apart from the love of God. Loving God is therefore something we must ask for. Let us therefore love God as the little stork loves its father. It is said that the stork’s baby loves his father so much that when he gets older, he comforts and feeds him. In the same way, we must comfort our Father in this aging world; comfort him in his weak and sick limbs; nourish it in the poor and destitute. What you have done to the least of mine, Jesus said, you will have done to me (cf. Mt 25:40). If we ask for love, the Father who is love will give us what he himself is: Love.
