Monday, April 8 : Saint Catherine of Siena
O ineffable and very sweet charity! How gentle is the union you have contracted with man! You have shown us your ineffable love by the graces and the good deeds without number that you have given to your creatures, especially by the benefit of the incarnation of your son, when we saw your sovereign grandeur descending to the baseness of our humanity. (…) Really, my very dear father, in this sweet and blessed field of Mary, the Word, united with flesh has, like the grain which germinates in the heat of the sun, shown its flower and its fruit, and leaves its envelope to the earth. He really did the same by the warmth and fire of the divine charity that God had for the human race, when he threw the seed of his Word in the fertile field of Mary. O blessed and sweet Marie! You gave us the flower of the sweet Jesus. (…) Do not forget, and always think in your heart, in your memory, in your soul, that you have been offered and given to Marie; Pray to that she presents you and gives you to her sweet Son Jesus, and this sweet mother, this tender mother of mercy will present you. Do not be ungrateful and forgetful, because she does not reject the prayer made to her, but she welcomes her with kindness. So be faithful, (…) run generously with this desire of Mary, who will always make you seek the honor of God and the salvation of souls.
