Saturday, May 20 : Saint John-Mary Vianney
No my brothers, nothing consoles me more than the promises that Jesus Christ makes in the Gospel, in saying that all that we ask of the father in His name, He will grant us. (Jn 16:23) If that were not enough, brothers, not only does He permit us to to ask him for what we desire, but He goes as far as commanding it. He says to His apostles, “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” (Jn 16:24) which shows us that prayer is the source of all good things and the happiness we can hope for on this earth. After that, if we are poor, stripped of light and grace, it is that we do not pray enough, or we pray badly…Do not be surprised that the devil does all in his power to make us miss prayer times, or distract us. He understands even better than us how much prayer overcomes hell, and that it is impossible for God to refuse all that we ask Him in prayer.
