“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps 36:4): The Holy Spirit is an inextinguishable fire that gives all good things, embraces all good things, gives birth to all good things, teaches all good things, and by his flame grants speech to man. By the power of his fire, he teaches humility, which places itself below all and considers itself last of all. Spiritual ardor has the freshness of patience, a benevolent dignity that fills everything; the work of humility, it is the foundation of what holiness builds onto greater heights. Faith is the standard of victory: like a brilliant flame, it shows the right path, its dew of hope waters the spirits of the faithful who long for heaven, having within them the greenness of perfect charity, they hasten to be useful to all. With the gentle breath of repentance, they lament in their prayer. As a breeze makes flowers bloom, the warmth of longing for heaven produces excellent fruit… (…) The glory of paradise is surrounded by such clarity that you can only look at it and what it contains in a mirror. There souls rejoice, purified from their sins, clothed in the garment of immortality and honor… Every creature is born according to the will of God, and even eternal life sprang from God and comes from Him; and the ornaments, the joys, and every joyful voice of eternal life come fromHim. For the works of the elect, which have sprouted through the Holy Spirit, burst forth in paradise…
