Sunday, April 20 : Book of hours of Sinai
You were lifted up on the cross, your side pierced with a spear by the wicked: it was because of Adam who had gone astray. For you wanted to rescue him from the hatred of the Enemy, Savior, and by your resurrection save the one fashioned by your hands from the ancient curse. Let us therefore sing to Christ our God, because he has covered himself with glory! You rose from the dead and saved the world from corruption, you Almighty, by your divine power; you appeared to the Women Bearing Incense , Lord our benefactor, with this word: “Rejoice!”, sending them to announce the divine resurrection. Let us therefore sing to Christ our God, because he has covered himself with glory! Two angels appeared in the tomb, Savior, announcing to the women your resurrection from the dead, and they sent them to Zion to proclaim to the disciples your divine and radiant resurrection, crying out with a resounding voice: “The crucified Lord rose from the tomb on the third day!” (…) From the tomb, after three days, you alone, Savior, arose, awakening, O Benefactor, the captives of netherworld and freeing them from the condemnation formerly incurred because of the serpent, for you are Life and Resurrection. Clap your hands, all nations, for the risen Christ, for God will reign forever, having broken the empire of Death and rescued us all from the condemnation of death.
