Sunday, February 5 : Saint Teresa of Calcutta
If we show such love to the poor it is because, in them, we find Jesus today, he who is the Word of God made flesh. The more united we are to God, the more our love for the poor and our availability for serving them from the depths of our heart increases… Don’t go looking for God in far away places; he is so close to you; he is with you. Always keep your lamps lit (Mt 25, 1f.) and you will find him everywhere. Watch and pray (Lk 21,36). Jesus holds out to each one of us his enduring, trusting, personal friendship; he expresses it with tenderness and love. He has bound himself to us for ever. Now, through our eagerness, we are putting this love into practice. Jesus came into the world doing good and now we are trying to imitate him, because I believe that God loves the world through us. I see so many people in the street, people who are unwanted, whom nobody cares about, people hungry for love. They are Jesus.
