Sunday, July 16 : St Hildegard of Bingen

To him who willingly accepts the seed of my Word, I grant an abondance of gifts of the Holy Spirit. But he who vacilates, sometimes receiving it, sometimes not, is like a field that is sometimes green sometimes dry, or withered. Show me how you till the field of your heart, how you cultivate it! If this inner work pleases me I will give you an excellent harvest. It is according to your efforts that you will reap. Do I give fruit to one who does not labor? I have given to each what you require to work on your soul. Some think that that they can be whatever they want, refusing to look at what they can do, without consulting Him who formed them. They want to treat God as a house servant who should execute their own will! O man, why do you not look t the field of your soul, weed out thet which is useless, the thorns and briars. Invoke my name and come to me eamining yourself as if you were crazy, do you not know that you can accomplish nothing without me.
