Sunday, November 17 : Saint Theodore the Studite
My children and brothers, come, let us love Christ, our king, let’s prost it before him (cf. PS 94,6), again offer our first fruits and again bear fruit! (…) So therefore we have the only one king, the king of all kings, our Lord and our God, it is him that we serve, we are impatiently awaiting him through our practice of good and we ardently desire His arrival (cf. 1 co 15.23; Mt 24.3). (…) We pray to be protected and not only for that, but also to be well prepared for the time of the tests; May the Lord not let us experience these although we are soldiers of Christ and that we must die with joy for our Lord and, according to his evangelical word, “not fear those who kill the body, But those who can take the soul ”(Mt 10,28). But already, my children, as the divine Apostle says, “time has become short” (1 Co 7,29) and if then it was so, now it is even shorter since it is in its end. “The Son of God must therefore come from heaven on the clouds in a visible manner” (cf. MC 13,26; LC 21,27; Mt 24,30), as it is written, that all life since the foundation of world is resurrected, that the righteous and the saints which have been made perfect, either by martyrdom, or by a straight life, go to meet it with unspeakable joy, are crowned and dance in the heavens an endless dance. (…) May you be deemed worthy of welcoming the last end with good hope (cf. Mt 13,39.40.43) in Christ Jesus our Lord, to whom are glory and power with Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always, Amen.
