“You will love the Lord with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself” Mk 12:31 For all men, all love is an affair of the heart. Without the human heart there is not human love. Without Jesus we would not have been capable to love God with a love that is human, creaturely love, because our heart was perverted, because we have no knowledge of a heart converted, turned to God, given to God. Jesus revealed to us, showing us, explaining how we must live and act, the man whose heart is converted. Because we have seen and touched Jesus, God made man, we can meet God at the level of our heart. The personal love of Jesus for us, and us for him, this heart to heart is our access to the love of God. We are ignorant how to love God with all our heart without contemplating and imitating the very heart of Christ. To know what is a pure heart, a good heart, we must look at Jesus. He alone knows, teaches us, gives us this heart. It is thanks to Him that we learn with what love we can love God, that we can know with what love God loves us. Through this heart to heart with Christ, Jesus reveals to us God’s love, He shows us His heart pure and good, the heart that our converted heart will become.
