Thursday, October 10 : Saint Nerses Chnorhali
Before the arrival of the friend Who will claim my soul, He who is celestial among celestial beings, And who will take me to heaven, He who is your friend, and good by nature, That I hated out of my love of evil, On the sill of dawns light, I arrive with a dark soul. In place of the three loaves Give me the confession of your trinity of persons, And your celestial body, Thanks to which we have known the three hypostases*. Indeed, among good deeds I have nothing to put in front of the good friend, But only faith in your grace And the last viaticum of life. Against me, unwelcome begger , Do not pretends that the doors are closed, And that children are in bed, That innocent souls rest. And don’t say it’s impossible, Which would mean you don’t want to. Because, if you absolutely want it, It’s a thing done. But may I bore you, according to the parable So that I receive what I ask, No because of the love I lost, But because of the cry of my enemies. *hypostasis: The Church uses the term person or hypostasis to designate the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the real distinction between them (cf. CEC § 252).
