Following the commandment of prayer,
I have not entered the chamber of the heart in spirit,
Nor in a corner of the public square,
To have at least one human reward. But I was negligent in both cases:
For appearances and reality;
For my laziness has triumphed over hope,
And earthly and heavenly! Now, He who by nature is your Father in heaven,
That you gave us by your grace,
Grant me to invoke perfectly
With a pure heart his Name, May the Kingdom of the Lord
Arrives to rule my soul;
And on this earth in me be fulfilled
His will, as well as in heaven. The bread of each day and the Bread that always is,
Remedy of my body and Remedy of the soul,
May he give them abundantly to me, to me who is in need:
Both the spiritual and the material. May he forgive me my faults, my debtor,
As I also remit to him who owes me;
Or above all that He brings back
On both sides, so that it can be handed over to me. And let him not allow the Tempter
To tempt me, cowardly, like an intrepid one;
But let him keep me from his sword;
May He Himself fight against the Evil One!

ٱجْتَهِدْ لِكَيْ تُرْضِيَ ٱلرَّبَّ، وَٱنْتَظِرْهُ دَاخِلِيًّا دُونَ أَنْ تَتْعَبَ، وَٱبْحَثْ عَنْهُ بِوَاسِطَةِ أَفْكَارِكَ، وَرَوِّضْ إِرَادَتَكَ وَقَرَارَاتِكَ، وَوَجِّهْهَا دَائِمًا حَتَّى تَتَّجِهَ بِٱسْتِمْرَارٍ نَحْوَهُ. وَسَتَرَى كَيْفَ أَنَّهُ سَيَأْتِي وَيَجْعَلَ لَهُ عِنْدَكَ مَقَامًا (رَاجِعْ يُو ١٤: ٢٣)… إِنَّهُ يَقِفُ هَهُنَا، مُرَاقِبًا عَقْلَكَ وَأَفْكَارَكَ، وَمُمْتَحِنًا كَيْفِيَّةَ بَحْثِكَ عَنْهُ، وَهَلْ تَبْحَثُ عَنْهُ مِنْ كُلِّ كِيَانِكَ، أَمْ بِتَرَاخٍ وَإِهْمَالٍ. وَحِينَ يَرَى أَنَّكَ تَبْحَثُ عَنْهُ بِكُلِّ جِدٍّ، سَيَظْهَرُ ذَاتَهُ فَوْرًا لَكَ، سَيَتَجَلَّى لَكَ، وَيَمْنَحُكَ نَجْدَتَهُ، وَيُعْطِيكَ ٱلنَّصْرَةَ، وَيُخَلِّصُكَ مِنْ أَعْدَائِكَ. عِنْدَمَا يَتَأَكَّدُ بِٱلْفِعْلِ كَيْفَ كُنْتَ تَبْحَثُ عَنْهُ، وَكَيْفَ تَضَعُ دَائِمًا كُلَّ رَجَائِكَ فِيهِ، حِينَئِذٍ سَيُعَلِّمُكَ ٱلصَّلَاةَ ٱلْحَقِيقِيَّةَ، وَيَمْنَحُكَ تِلْكَ ٱلْمَحَبَّةَ ٱلْحَقِيقِيَّةَ ٱلَّتِي تَتَمَثَّلُ فِيهِ هُوَ ذَاتُهُ. سَيُصْبِحُ هُوَ حِينَئِذٍ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بَالنِّسْبَةِ إِلَيْكَ: ٱلْجَنَّةُ، وَشَجَرَةُ ٱلْحَيَاةِ، وَٱللُّؤْلُؤَةُ ٱلثَّمِينَةُ، وَٱلتَّاجُ، وَٱلْمِعْمَارِيُّ، وَٱلزَّارِعُ، وَكَائِنًا خَاضِعًا لِلْآلَامِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ تُصِيبَهُ، وَٱلْإِنْسَانُ، وَٱللَّهُ، وَٱلْخَمْرُ، وَٱلْمَاءُ ٱلْحَيُّ، وَٱلنَّعْجَةُ، وَٱلْعَرِيسُ، وَٱلْمُحَارِبُ، وَٱلدِّرْعُ… وَٱلرَّبُّ يَسُوعُ ٱلْمَسِيحُ هُوَ “كُلُّ شَيْءٍ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ” (رَاجِعْ ١كُور ١٥: ٢٨). كَمَا أَنَّ ٱلطِّفْلَ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَعْتَمِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ لِيَأْكُلَ وَيَعْتَنِيَ بِنَفْسِهِ، بَلْ يَحْتَاجُ إِلَىٰ أُمِّهِ فَيَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا بَاكِيًا حَتَّىٰ تَلْمَسَهُ بِعَطْفِهَا وَتَهْتَمَّ بِهِ، هَكَذَا تَضَعُ ٱلنُّفُوسُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَةُ رَجَاءَهَا دَائِمًا فِي ٱلْمَسِيحِ وَتَنْسِبُ إِلَيْهِ مَصْدَرَ كُلِّ عَدْلٍ. وَكَمَا أَنَّ ٱلْغُصْنَ يَيْبَسُ إِذَا ٱنْفَصَلَ عَنِ ٱلْكَرْمَةِ (رَاجِعْ يُو ١٥: ٦)، هٰذَا مَا يَحْدُثُ أَيْضًا لِمَن يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَارًّا مِنْ دُونِ ٱلْمَسِيحِ. فَهُوَ مِثْلُ لِصٍّ وَسَارِقٍ “لَا يَدْخُلُ إِلَى ٱلْحَظِيرَةِ مِنَ ٱلْبَابِ، بَلْ يَتَسَلَّقُ إِلَيْهَا مِنْ مَكَانٍ آخَرَ” (رَاجِعْ يُو ١٠: ١)، هٰكَذَا هُوَ حَالُ مَنْ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَكُونَ بَارًّا مِنْ دُونِ ذَاكَ ٱلَّذِي يُبَرِّرُ.

أنتِ تعلمين، وانا واثقة من ذلك، أن ملكوت السماوات ليس مَوعود به ولا مُعطى إلّا لِفُقراءِ الرُّوح (راجع مت 5: 3)، لأنّنا حين نتمسّك بأمور هذه الدنيا نفقد ثمار المحبة. ليس بإستطاعتنا أن نخدم في ذات الوقت الله والشيطان لأنّه علينا أمّا أن نحبّ واحدًا ونكره الآخر، أمّا أن نخدم واحدًا ونحتقر الآخر؛ لا يستطيع الرجّل المكسوّ بالثياب أن يقاوم خصمًا عُريانًا، لأن ثيابه ستجعله مُؤهّلًا للإمساك، وسيُقلب في الحال، فليس بإمكاننا أن نرجو العيش بمفخرة في هذا العالم وأن نملك مع الرّب يسوع المسيح في العالم الآخر؛ “لأَن يَمُرَّ الجَملُ مِن ثَقْبِ الإِبرَةِ أَيسَرُ مِن أَن يَدخُلَ الغَنِيُّ مَلكوتَ الله”(مت 19: 24). من أجل ذلك قد خَلَعتِ هذه الثياب وهي الثروات الزمنيّة، كي لا تكوني مَهزومة في النِضال، وقد إختَرتِ الطريق الصعب والباب الضيّق كي تستطيعي أن تدخُلي ملكوت السماوات (راجع مت 7: 13- 14)

Christ «will hand over the Kingdom to his Father» says Saint Paul (1Cor 15,24), not in the sense that he will let go of his own power by handing over the Kingdom but because we are the ones who will become the Kingdom of God when we have been conformed to his glorious body… It is ourselves he will hand over to God when he has constituted us «Kingdom of God» through the glorification of his body. It is ourselves he will hand over as Kingdom to the Father, as the Gospel says: «Come, blessed of my Father, receive the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world». «Then the righteous shall shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father» (Mt 13,43). For the Son will hand over to God those he has invited into his Kingdom as being his Kingdom, those to whom he promised with these words the blessedness proper to this mystery: «Blessed the pure in heart for they shall see God» (Mt 5,8)… Christ delivers the Kingdom to God and now those whom he hands over as his Kingdom to God will see God. Our Lord himself made known to his apostles in what this Kingdom consists: «The Kingdom of God is within you» (Lk 17,21). And if one of you is wanting to know who he is who is handing over the Kingdom, listen to this: «Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead came also through a human being» (1Cor 15,20-21). This has to do with the mystery of the Body, for Christ was the first to be raised from the dead… And so it is for the sake of the development of the humanity assumed by Christ that «God will be all in all» (1Cor 15,28).

The Father judge any man, but he has given all judgment unto the Son (John 5:22), not divesting Himself of His power, but judging through the Son; the Son therefore judges by the will of the Father; for the wills of the Father and of the Son are not different, but one and the same. What then says the Judge, as to whether you shall bear your works, or no? And before Him shall they gather all nations (Matthew 25:32) for in the presence of Christ every knee must bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth (Philippians 2:10:) and He shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. How does the shepherd make the separation? Does he examine out of a book which is a sheep and which a goat? Or does he distinguish by their evident marks? Does not the wool show the sheep, and the hairy and rough skin the goat? In like manner, if you have been just now cleansed from your sins, your deeds shall be henceforth as pure wool; and your robe shall remain unstained, and you shall ever say, I have put off my coat, how shall I put it on ? By your vesture shall you be known for a sheep. But if you be found hairy, like Esau, who was rough with hair, and wicked in mind, who for food lost his birthright and sold his privilege, you shall be one of those on the left hand. But God forbid that any here present should be cast out from grace, or for evil deeds be found among the ranks of the sinners on the left hand!

“Porque el Padre no juzga a nadie: él ha puesto todo juicio en manos de su Hijo” (Jn 5,22). No es que el Padre se despoja de su poder, sino que juzga por el Hijo. El Hijo juzga bajo la indicación del Padre. Porque las indicaciones del Padre no son de una forma y las indicaciones del Hijo de otra forma, sino que es una única y misma indicación. ¿Qué dice el juez acerca de tu responsabilidad o irresponsabilidad en cuanto a las obras? “Ellos reunieron ante él a todos los pueblos”, porque “es necesario que todos doblen las rodillas ante Cristo, habitantes de los cielos, de la tierra y de los infiernos” y “él los separará los unos de los otros, como el pastor separa las ovejas de los carneros” (cf. Mt 25,32; Rom 14,10; Flp 2,10). ¿Cómo los separa el pastor? ¿Buscando en un libro para saber qué bestia es oveja y qué bestia es carnero? ¿O juzga según lo que ve? ¿La lana no señala a la oveja y su pelaje seco al carnero? Así, si fuiste antes purificado de tus faltas, tus obras aparecen exteriormente como lana pura y la vestimenta de inocencia te espera y dirás siempre “Ya me quité la túnica ¿cómo voy a ponérmela de nuevo?” (Ct5,3). Tu pelaje te distingue como oveja. (…) Quiera Dios que ninguno de los que están aquí falle a la gracia otorgada y que, a causa de sus malas acciones, sea encontrado en los rangos de los pecadores.

I firmly believe that you know the kingdom of heaven is promised and given by the Lord only to the poor (cf. Mt 5:3), because she who loves what is temporal loses the fruit of love. It is not possible to serve God and mammon, for either the one is loved and the other hated, or the one is served and the other despised; one clothed cannot fight another naked because she who has something to be caught hold of is more quickly thrown to the ground: someone who lives in the glory of earth cannot rule with Christ; it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven (cf. Mt 19:24). Therefore you have cast aside your garments, that is, earthly riches, so that instead of being overcome by the one fighting against you, you will be able to enter the kingdom of heaven through the straight path and the narrow gate (cf. Mt 7:13-14).

El pecado es una cosa terrible y la transgresión una muy cruel enfermedad del alma, ya que corta los nervios del alma y así trabaja para el fuego eterno. (…) No hay un único instigador de la mala acción. Uno de ellos, que sopla la perversidad, es el diablo. Sopla el mal a todos, pero no triunfa sobre los que rechazan de escucharlo. Por eso la palabra del Eclesiastés ”Si el que gobierna se irrita contra ti, no te salgas de quicio” (Ecl 10,4). Cierra tu puerta, ten al diablo lejos de ti y no te dañará. Si recibes a la ligera la sugestión de un deseo, con tus consideraciones, ella pondrá en ti sus raíces, encadenará tu inteligencia y te atraerá al pozo de la miseria. Quizás dirás “Soy fiel y el deseo no me domina, mismo si me detengo a reflexionar”. ¿Ignoras que una raíz, a fuerza de adherirse, termina por romper hasta una piedra? No recibas la semilla, ella destruirá tu fe. Antes que crezca, arranca el mal desde las raíces, no sea que tu dejadez primera te valga hachas y fuego. Comienza por sanar tus ojos enfermos en tiempo oportuno, para no tener que buscar un médico cuando ya estés ciego.

رفعتُ يديَّ إلى السماء، نحو نعمة الربّ. فألقى قيودي بعيدًا عنّي. لقد رفَعَني نصيري بحسب نعمته وسلامه. خلعتُ الظُّلمة وعُدت لأتسربل النور؛ أعضائي لم تعُد تشعر بعناءٍ، أو قلقٍ، أو ألمٍ. فِكر الربِّ أحاطني؛ نورُه دفعني؛ سِرتُ في حضوره؛ سأدنو منه مُسَبِّحًا ومُمجِّدًا إيّاه. فاضَ قلبي، وامتدّ إلى فمي، وتدفّق على شفتيّ. فرَحُ الربِّ وتسبيحُه أنارا وجهي. هلِّلُويا! أفلتُّ من قيودي وفررتُ نحوك، إلهي! كنتَ عَضُدي، وسلامي وعوني. احتويتَ الذين قاموا عليّ وقد توارَوا. وجهُك كان معي ونعمتُك أنقذتني. كنتُ مُزدرىً ومرفوضًا في عينيّ الجمع. لكنّك أعطيتني قوّةً وعونًا. وضعتَ النور عن يميني وعن يساري. فليكن كلّ شيءٍ فيّ نورًا! تسربلتُ من جديدٍ ثوب روحِك، وخلعتَ عنّي “أقمصة الجلد” (راجع تك 3: 21). يمينُك رفعتني وأبعدَت عنّي المرض. حقيقتُك جعلتني صَلبًا وعدلُك برَّرني. تبرّرتُ بحبّك العذب، وراحتُك هي لي إلى دهر الداهرين. هلِّلُويا!

He took off and threw my chains far away from me.
My protector raised me in accordance with his grace and salvation.
I was stripped off of darkness and clothed with light; My limbs no longer suffer from sadness, anguish or pain.
The thought of the Lord assisted me;
His light overjoyed me;
I walked in His presence;
As I praise and glorify Him, I will approach Him.
My heart has over flown; it reached my mouth,
Came out on my lips.
The joy of the Lord and his praise enlighten my face.
Alleluia! I escaped my chains and ran to you, my God!
You have been my right hand, my salvation and help.
You kept back those who rose up against me and they disappeared.
Your face was with me and your grace saved me.
I was scorned and condemned in the eyes of the majority.
But you gave me strength and aid.
You placed the light at my right side and left side.
May everything in me be only light! I put on the clothes of your Spirit,
And you took off from me the leather garments you had first clothed me with (Gn 3,21).
Your right hand raised me and chased the sickness away from me.
Your truth made me strong and your justice sanctified me.
I was justified by your love so sweet,
And your peace is for me now forever and ever.
