[The divine Heart is] always burning with love for men, always open to pour out on them all kinds of graces and blessings, always touched by our ills, always eager to share with us its treasures and to give itself to us, always ready to receive us and serve us as an refuge, a home, a paradise from this life onwards. For all this, he finds in the hearts of men only hardness, only forgetfulness, only contempt, only ingratitude: He loves, and He is not loved, and we do not even know his love, because we do not deign to receive the gifts by which He would like to testify to it, nor listen to the tender and secret declarations that He would like to make to our hearts. (…) Sacred Heart of Jesus, teach me the perfect forgetting of myself, since this is the only way by which we can enter you. Since everything I do in the future will be yours, make sure that I do nothing that is not worthy of you. Teach me what I must do to achieve the purity of your love, for which you have inspired me to desire. I feel within myself a great desire to please you and a great impotence to overcome it without great light and very particular help that I can only expect from you. Do your will in me, Lord; I am opposed to it, I feel it; but I would like, it seems to me, not to oppose it. It is up to you to do everything, divine Heart of Jesus Christ; you alone will have all the glory of my sanctification, if I make myself holy; it seems clearer than day to me; but it will be a great glory for you, and it is for this only that I want to desire perfection. So be it.

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God.
Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.
In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him.
In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as expiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another.
No one has ever seen God. Yet, if we love one another, God remains in us, and his love is brought to perfection in us.
This is how we know that we remain in him and he in us, that he has given us of his Spirit.
Moreover, we have seen and testify that the Father sent his Son as savior of the world.
Whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God.
We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.

He redeems your life from destruction, he crowns you with kindness and compassion. The LORD secures justice and the rights of all the oppressed.
He has made known his ways to Moses, and his deeds to the children of Israel. Merciful and gracious is the LORD, slow to anger and abounding in kindness.
Not according to our sins does he deal with us, nor does he requite us according to our crimes.

Moses said to the people: “For you are a people sacred to the LORD, your God; he has chosen you from all the nations on the face of the earth to be a people peculiarly his own.
It was not because you are the largest of all nations that the LORD set his heart on you and chose you, for you are really the smallest of all nations.
It was because the LORD loved you and because of his fidelity to the oath he had sworn to your fathers, that he brought you out with his strong hand from the place of slavery, and ransomed you from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.
Understand, then, that the LORD, your God, is God indeed, the faithful God who keeps his merciful covenant down to the thousandth generation toward those who love him and keep his commandments,
but who repays with destruction the person who hates him; he does not dally with such a one, but makes him personally pay for it.
You shall therefore carefully observe the commandments, the statutes and the decrees which I enjoin on you today.

At the end of our prayers we say: «Through Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord» and not «Through the Holy Spirit». This practice of the universal Church is not without reason. At its root lies the mystery according to which Jesus Christ is the mediator between God and humanity (1Tim 2,5), a priest for ever according to the order of Melchizedek, he who, with his own blood, entered into the Holy of holies, not that which was only a copy but into heaven itself where he is at the right hand of God and intercedes for us (Heb 6,20; 9,24). It was in his consideration of Christ’s priesthood that the apostle said: «Through him let us continually offer God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name» (Heb 13,15). It is through him that we offer the sacrifice of praise and prayer because it is his death that reconciled us while we were still enemies (Rom 5,10). He willed to offer himself in sacrifice for our sakes and, since then, it is through him that our offerings can be acceptable in God’s sight. This is why Saint Peter warns us in these words: «Like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ» (1Pt 2,5). This is the reason why we say to God the Father: «Through Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord».

Vengan a mí todos los que están afligidos y agobiados, y yo los aliviaré.

El divino Corazón está siempre ardiente de amor por los hombres, siempre abierto para esparcir sobre ellos todo tipo de gracias y bendiciones. Siempre conmovido por nuestros males, siempre movido por el deseo de compartirnos sus tesoros y darse él mismo a nosotros. Siempre dispuesto a recibirnos y a servirnos de refugio, de morada, de paraíso desde esta vida. A cambio de todo eso, en el corazón de los hombres encuentra dureza, olvido, desprecio, ingratitud. Ama y no es amado, ni siquiera se conoce su amor porque ellos no se saben recibir los dones que él ofrece como testigo de ese amor. Ni saben escuchar las tiernas y secretas declaraciones que él quisiera hacer a nuestro corazón. (…) Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, enséñeme el perfecto olvido de mí mismo, ya que es la única vía por la que puedo entrar en usted. Como todo lo que haré en el avenir será a usted, que yo no realice nada que no sea digno de usted. Enséñeme cómo actuar para llegar a la pureza de su amor, del que me ha inspirado el deseo. Siento en mí una gran voluntad de agradarle y una gran impotencia para llegar al final, sin la gran luz y particular ayuda, que sólo puedo esperar de usted. Haga en mí su voluntad, Señor. Sé bien que yo me opongo, pero quisiera no oponerme. Únicamente usted puede realizar esto, divino Corazón de Jesucristo. Únicamente usted tendrá toda la gloria de mi santificación, si me convierto en santo. Esto me parece más claro que el día, será para usted una gran gloria y es sólo por eso que quiero la perfección. Así sea.

Queridos míos, amémonos los unos a los otros, porque el amor procede de Dios, y el que ama ha nacido de Dios y conoce a Dios.
El que no ama no ha conocido a Dios, porque Dios es amor.
Así Dios nos manifestó su amor: envió a su Hijo único al mundo, para que tuviéramos Vida por medio de él.
Y este amor no consiste en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó primero, y envió a su Hijo como víctima propiciatoria por nuestros pecados.
Queridos míos, si Dios nos amó tanto, también nosotros debemos amarnos los unos a los otros.
Nadie ha visto nunca a Dios: si nos amamos los unos a los otros, Dios permanece en nosotros y el amor de Dios ha llegado a su plenitud en nosotros.
La señal de que permanecemos en él y él permanece en nosotros, es que nos ha comunicado su Espíritu.
Y nosotros hemos visto y atestiguamos que el Padre envió al Hijo como Salvador del mundo.
El que confiesa que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, permanece en Dios, y Dios permanece en él.
Nosotros hemos conocido el amor que Dios nos tiene y hemos creído en él. Dios es amor, y el que permanece en el amor permanece en Dios, y Dios permanece en él.

Bendice al Señor, alma mía, que todo mi ser bendiga a su santo Nombre;
bendice al Señor, alma mía, y nunca olvides sus beneficios. El perdona todas tus culpas y cura todas tus dolencias;
rescata tu vida del sepulcro, te corona de amor y de ternura. El Señor hace obras de justicia y otorga el derecho a los oprimidos;
él mostró sus caminos a Moisés y sus proezas al pueblo de Israel. El Señor es bondadoso y compasivo, lento para enojarse y de gran misericordia;
no nos trata según nuestros pecados ni nos paga conforme a nuestras culpas.
