Saturday, September 14 : Book of hours of Sinai

O wood three times blessed on which was extended Christ, King and Lord, tree by which He succumbed, Adam having been deceived also at a tree, so this tree was seduced by God, nailed to you in His flesh thereby granting peace to our souls ! The three -time blessed wood where the Redeemer was fixed in his flesh, the Lord, and by which perished Satan, the one who by means of a tree had cheated Adam by making him disobey, it is this tree which now raised Him and which, for our souls, has become a source of incorruptibility. You are recalled from exile, thanks to your crucifixion, the race of Adam the first created: incorruptible indeed in your essence, you voluntarily impoverished yourself through sin, because of us, Jesus assumed flesh, impassible yet you have supported the sufferings of the passion. (…) The royal mantle, you have soaked it in your blood, emblem of your power over all beings; celestial, terrestrial and in the underworld, when You were lifted high on the cross: this cross that you wore on your shoulders, making by your passion spring forth the resurrection for me. By virtue of your divine nature you have resurrected from the dead, you all powerful, the strong one, and you destroyed the reign of death: even if, like a mortal, you stayed in the tomb, friend of Man, you removed corruption from the whole human race. With faith, let’s proclaim blessed, in our hymns, the one who has not known man, the very pure mother of God, she who gave birth to the master of all, the one who delivers us from the ancient condemnation and to our souls grants peace.
