Sunday, March 29 : Saint Gregory of Narek
With fear mixed with joy, I consider it desirable to say here something of the sufferings that you have endured for me, O God of all! (…) You were laid out on the altar of the cross like a victim; they nailed you as if you were a criminal; they stared at you as if you were a rebel; you who are heavenly peace, as if you were a bandit; you who are the cause of life, as worthy of being destroyed by death; you who expounded the Gospel, as a blasphemer of the Law; the Lord and the fulfillment of the prophets, as a transgressor of the Scriptures; you who are the ray of glory and the seal of your Father’s unsearchable thoughts, as an adversary of the will of him who begat you. You accepted all this suffering voluntarily and with spontaneous complacency, supporting them in your humanity that you have united; and after having suffered these ignominies with indescribable patience, you were resurrected alive by your own power in an exhilarating light, with your integral humanity and your perfect divinity. You who are blessed for your glory, praised for your mercy, always exalted for your mercy, for centuries and centuries. Amen.
