Thursday, April 13 : Blessed Columba Marmion
Where do we find the words of Jesus, these words that must be for us “a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (Jn 4;14)? First, in the Gospel, where we hear Christ himself, the Incarnate Word, we see Him reveal the incomprehensible in human words, translating the invisible in comprehensible gestures for the weak of spirit; we have only to open our eyes, to dispose our hearts. It is the treasure of all the scriptures that Jesus reveals to us (old and new testament). It is in each of these pages that we read His name. The pages are full of Him, His person, His perfections, His gestures; each page tells us of His incomparable love for us, His goodness without end, His unfailing mercy, His infinite wisdom. They unveil the riches of His life and of His sufferings, and of the supreme triumph of His glory… But that His Word might be living and efficacious in us, that it might truly reach our soul, that it might be both source of contemplation and life, we must receive it with faith and humility, with a sincere desire to know Christ and to unite ourselves to Him. The intimate and profound knowledge, the supernatural perception, and the fecundify of the Holy Scriptures is a gift of the Holy Spirit; this precious gift that Our Lord Himself entrusted to His disciples in the apparitions after the resurrection.
